Your gear is ready to go the night before. You get to bed early. You wake up on time, early in the morning, while it’s still dark, and you can’t wait to get out running, on your bike, or to the gym. You’re just about to walk out the door when you think “I’ll just check my email real quick.” You’re sitting at your computer when you suddenly realize that it’s light outside and that if you run upstairs and shower you’re going to be late for work, and of course your workout for the day is shot.
This has happened to me all too many times. My advice is to never, ever, sit down at that computer before your workout. If you do, you risk everything. Trust me, all that email will still be there when you get back, and chances are there are no emergencies that need to be handled before 8 am.
